Today I will be sharing with you guys the plugins I use on SteitBlog and which I really think you should be using as well. There are thousands of plugins that can be downloaded and used, but each blogger has his own set of plugins that he won’t start a blog without having them installed. Following are mine.

Akismet: A plugin that comes pre-installed with wordpress and it helps on identifying spam comments and reducing the amount of spam on a blog.

CommentLuv: A plugin by my friend Andrew Bailey that shows a link of the latest post from the commentators’ blog. It’s simply showing luv to your readers when they comment.

Comment RelishThis plugin has a very unique functionality. Comment Relish sends a “Thank you” e-mail to anybody who comments on your blog for the first time.

Contact Form 7Contact forms are very flexible and easy with Contact Form 7.

Cute ProfilesThis plugin allows you to add your social media accounts buttons on the sides of the screen, either to the left or to the right and the icons keep scrolling with the page if scrolled.

FeedBurner FeedSmithNothing is worse than having a lot of  subscribers without being able to manage them, that’s why I recommend using FeedBurner. This plugins helps you redirecting your original feeds to your FeedBurner feed.

Google XML Sitemaps: What do we need more than getting Google’s love? This plugin works on creating an updated XML sitemap for your blog which is of course, Google friendly sitemap.

MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer: This plugins helps you in the pinging process and it saves a blogged from being tagged as a ping spammer.

NextGEN Gallery:A very detailed and cool photo gallery and Album management plugin.

Page Links To: This plugin enables you to point pages or posts in your wordpress blog to an external URLs of your choosing.

Sociable: This is simply the best social bookmarking and sharing plugin, where it offers around 100 services that you can choose from and have your readers share your posts through.

StatPress Reloaded: A real-time statistical system for your blog.

Subscribe Remind: Adds a tiny message to your readers after each post reminding them to subscribe to your RSS feed.

Thesis OpenHook: This plugin to thesis, is like water to fish! It helps you customize your Thesis theme to a very high extent.

TweetMeme Retweet Button: Adds a retweet button and counter to each post of your blog.

Twitterlink Comments: Another plugin by Andrew Bailey that adds a “Twitter ID” field in your comment form so the commentator will have a link to his Twitter profile beside his comment.

Twitter Tools: This plugins Tweets a message whenever a new post is published, containing the title of the post and a link to it.

WordPress Related Posts: This plugin suggest similar posts to your readers and also it helps in on-site optimization and internal linking.

WP-Polls: What’s better than getting your readers’ feedback and opinion on a certain question or issue? WP-Poll is an Ajax poll plugin that is very flexible and easy to use and style as well.

WP Greet Box: This plugin welcomes your visitors by showing a message depending on which site they arrived from.

WP Super Cache: Caching plugin for wordpress, that helps in decreasing the load on your server, and increase page loading speed since it caches static php files.

WPtouch iPhone Theme: This cool plugin enables you to have an iPhone friendly version of your blog for all visitors arriving using an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Do you use any of the above on your blog? Do you use other plugins you think I am missing? Please drop me a line.

Before I start using Thesis Theme I had more plugins that I couldn’t launch a blog without, but thanks for Thesis for having many built-in features replacing the following plugins:

  1. All in One SEO Pack.
  2. Google Analytics for WordPress.
  3. WP-Gravatar
