The following tips are randomly chosen which I thought I should share with you. I only wish I had known the below sooner, because I seemed to have once been doing the exact opposite.
1- Choosing your Twitter ID:
When choosing your Twitter ID you should have in mind various factors. It shouldn’t be long, so you increase the chance to have your tweets RTed. And it should memorable, if possible, since almost all Phone Twitter Apps ask you to write the username of the recipient instead of choosing from a list or auto-complete. Personally I wish I knew this a couple of years ago, before registering my Twitter Account, I would’ve chosen another username other than @Steitiyeh which is not short nor memorable.
2- Upload an Avatar and try not to change it:
When it comes to the Avatar you should use a unified avatar throughout your accounts on all social networks, this point was mentioned earlier on SteitBlog. An avatar helps people recognize your tweets and updates without bothering to look at the user name, specially people who are using Desktop Apps such as TweetDeck, Seesmic, Twhirl and others. If you use one of these Apps, then you know what I’m talking about. Therefore, changing your avatar is somehow like changing your username.
3- Don’t use Mass Follow tools
When building your list of followers you need to focus on choosing the people you are following. You should have common interests in order to have them follow you back. The human factor is one important factor that makes people more interested in your tweets and in return have them follow you.
Using Mass Following tools will KILL the human factor and you will end up with a list of irrelevant followers and followings. Before I forget, using Mass Following tools allows them to use your account, this may lead to them spamming the shit out of your followers.
4- Don’t RT blindly
It happened to me a couple of times, I RTed tweets from some friends without reading the article it’s linking to. When reading it, I found out that it’s either not working, or against my beliefs or whatsoever. That is a really embarrassing situation that no one would like to be put in. So before RTing a tweet that has a link, read the content of the link and RT if you think you would like to share it with your followers.
5- Be honest when tweeting
One important rule you need to follow when tweeting, is to be yourself. Being yourself means, to be honest with what you share with your followers, talk about stuff that you personally know about or at least are interested in. Don’t talk about things just because they are trending topics or because people keep talking about them. Doing so, your followers will trust you more and will know you even more.
6- Think about your followers when you tweet
Put yourself in your followers’ shoes when you tweet, is your tweet interesting for them? Would they be interested in reading it? I’m not saying not to tweet anything that you think your followers won’t be interested in, because I know when Twitter becomes an addiction and a habit, the user will lose control! You should tweet appropriate stuff that till a certain extent meets your followers needs and interest.

I remember having a conversation with you when I first met you, talking about tip number one. Because my first Twitter account @djj1758 was the same case, but I have created other other Twitter accounts and really to make your twitter name well known, you need to market it well.
In my experience, tip number five means a lot to me because this ultimately decides if the follower is going to continue to follow you. Sure you can follow and tweet anyone, but your twitter followers are the key to utilizing Twitter’s fullest abilities.
P.S. I got a new system of connecting with my readers (other than Aweber) If you could please read this article and then join my community, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance Steit!

I agree with you on number four is very important for several reasons . I find RT to be good if you add information (VALUE), like good post, or good read or some personal value that represents you.
One thing I would like to add is keep your post short and sweet, personally and 99.9% of the time, i do not retweet what I cannot comment on. If it is important I may shorten or link to the full tweet.
Another reason to pick a short name!
Make it easy for people to promote your ideas.
Cheers,
Rob
