Time is ticking – Literally!

This is a guest blog by Sarge from Beginner Blogger.

Are you guilty for putting off tasks till the next day just because it’s starting to get a tad late and it can just ‘wait till tomorrow’. Or maybe you’re a little bit tired and you just can’t be bothered doing what you really want to do now because ‘there’s always tomorrow’

Instead of delaying tasks because you’re a little tired or the day is almost over, have a second thought. Why not do it anyway? Time is ticking.

How Much Time Do Really We Have Left?

I’m currently 23. I’d be pretty happy if I lived until I was 80. So that gives me approx. 499,000 hours left in my life to do something. Or 29,959,200 minutes (57 years x 365 days x 24 hours) or 1,797,552,000 seconds. Now I like to think I’ll never die, I say this all the time but you never know what sort of freaky accident could happen. Don’t waste it! You have too much to achieve in your life. Don’t put it off until tomorrow, DO IT NOW!

All those days where you say ‘I’ll just do it tomorrow’ can add up. See the seconds just fly by? Every day wasted is one day longer which will take to reach your goals.

Inspiration

I have a friend that’s starting up a coffee shop. He’s getting up at 3am and working till the sun goes down. That’s dedication for you and that’s not wasting your time. He had a project he wants to work on and get finished so he can start getting some business in and stop living on the couch.

Think of this when you start a new website or even a new blog post. Yes, it might be getting a bit late but will working an extra hour or so kill you? My friend was building, painting and sweating. All we’re doing is clicking on a few buttons and typing a few keys.

I don’t mean to freak you out, but if you put it in a way where you can see your life pass you by like this you can start to understand that our time is precious. I know we’ve all had times where we disrespect the time we have and say ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’. So don’t – do it now! Achieve your goals and dreams. You can :)

I’ve recently learnt the real importance of getting stuff done as soon as possible. This is because I’ve had exams, so therefore been doing lots of revision. This means that whenever I get the chance to do blogging stuff, it’s important I do the tasks I need to do quickly and effeciently before I can go back to revising.

Still, I think it’s important to try and not sacrifice quality in turn for being fast. It’s crucial that you still maintain a high quality… after all, if a job’s worth doing, its worth doing properly.

Sarge, great article and there’s a very good point behind it (even if you put it a bit sinically, lol :p)

That is a great wakeup call Sarge! I just keep telling myself, “the more I work now, the less I will have to work later.”

@Simon – Haha, basically it’s just a wake up call to those that say ‘I’ll just do it tomorrow’. I was being guilty of it myself so the post wrote itself pretty much. You don’t have to be fast, just make sure you’re not slouching around or wasting time doing NOTHING when you could be doing SOMETHING ;)

@Tom – Unless I reach a point in my life where there is nothing I want to do I don’t think there will ever be any less work later. Maybe I’ll tone it down a notch. It really baffles me when people say they are BORED – how can you be bored in this world?! There’s so much to do and so much you could aspire to do!

I guess it depends on what you define as ‘work’. If you have something you HAVE to do which you don’t enjoy then it’s best to get that out of the way.

Hi Sarge,
Inspiring post. Good example of comparing us “lazy bum” bloggers to the guy running the cafe. Lol! Bloggers do have it good in many aspects as in general and for that we should be grateful. I also tell myself that I won’t die if I put in a late night or two now and again.

Thanks.

I have to agree with Gordie! We will not die if we spent couple of nights killing our tasks and To-Do lists! Thanks for this cool article Sarge

Best,
Steit
